Fighting fit for future success

I’m working with GYROTONIC® instructor Hayley Oxley to help raise her profile as a leading GYROTONIC® trainer in Brighton and the South East.  Hayley is also an experienced Pilates teacher and qualified massage therapist.  The first step was to create a website with online booking system and blog, along with a dedicated facebook page and instagram account.  We’re in the process of putting together a social media and ongoing marketing plan to ensure Hayley becomes the face of the GYROTONIC® Method in Brighton.  Watch this space!Screen Shot 2018-08-17 at 19.14.32.jpg

Turning a service into a marketable product

BPE_atworkAs well as working with private individuals, the private client team at BPE Solicitors provides a number of services that are also beneficial to business clients.  They needed to find a way to sell these services into Companies as well as encourage the firm’s commercial teams to promote them to existing clients.

Cheltenham Poetry Festival

I’ve had a great time working on a voluntary basis with CEO and Founder of the Cheltenham Poetry Festival, Anna Saunders.  Of course, Anna is passionate about poetry. She has her 5th booking coming out soon, and for the past few months she’s been working full throttle, along with the rest of the Festival team, to make sure this 7th Festival goes without a hitch.

I met Anna through the University of Gloucestershire as I’m currently studying a degree in Creative Writing, alongside working as a freelancer in marketing communications and copywriting.  Anna needed some help with PR and marketing and I’ve been supporting her with this for the past few months and I’ve loved it!  Here’s Anna being interviewed by Faye Hatcher on BBC Radio Gloucestershire

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p050dwmp  The interview is at the beginning at 17.00

Oh yes, and I’ll be reading my flash fiction pieces at the Festival on May 4th – gulp! https://www.facebook.com/events/696594957214820/

Blog Writing

65b5ee4cacaa5d303b59f56a3a92c0b3Most people know that blogging is an important piece of kit in your marketing tool box. Search engines love websites that are frequently updated with fresh content and on a website, the blog is generally the best place to do this.  It’s unlikely that you’ll update your home page, history, services, products etc on a daily or weekly basis, but a blog gives you the opportunity to post up-to-date, industry relevant, interesting content as often as you like. Companies that blog typically gain at least twice as much web traffic as those that don’t.

If you’re interested in the type of content you could blog about, take a look at a couple of companies I write blogs for: Treehouse and Vitruvius. If you’d like to chat about your blog and how to keep it fresh and interesting, why not drop me a line on hello@claireharrisonwriter.com

New website and marketing campaign for Vitruvius

vitruvius-trio2Vitruvius is a leading construction management partner, working with commercial clients across a wide variety of industry sectors to define, manage and deliver large construction projects on time and on budget. I’ve been working with Vitruvius since November 2015.  The first project was to assist Vitruvius in writing a large tender document and to write and co-ordinate the design and production of their new website which was launched in December 2016.  I also produced a marketing communications plan.

During production of the new website, which included interviewing clients and creating video testimonials, I worked with Vitruvius to develop their brand and streamline the company’s offering.  Previously the Company was promoting too many services making it difficult to define key points of difference.

Working with Innovation & Creative Training Company, Treehouse

Everyone’s brain naturally forms neural pathways or ‘mental ruts’ – but if you apply stimulus to the brain it forms new pathways, helping you to think differently.

latest-logoInnovative training company, Treehouse helps company’s learn to ‘think differently’. Whether it’s the next ‘big idea’, trying to improve staff motivation or a strategy to improve profit, their innovative programmes provide the stimulus needed in an inspiring, fun, deliberate and effective way. It works for everyone in any field.  Clients include Twinings, Ministry of Defence, BAE and The National Trust.

I’ve been working with Treehouse since February 2016, initially writing and uploading blog posts and overseeing production of their new website. I now work closely with Helen Westendorp, Treehouse Director, across a wide range of activities including helping with bid writing, marketing communications, brand champion and copywriting of all marketing assets.

BPE’s Vintage Tea Stop

Concept for corporate event & copywriting

How you attract new and existing clients to a tent in the middle of a field?  You create a 1950’s Vintage Tea Stop complete with homemade cake, scones and children’s entertainment.

BPE has sponsored the Cotswold Show in Cirencester for the past 3 years.  This year they wanted to invite their existing and potential clients, friends and families to the Show, but give them something a little bit different that would entertain the whole family.  I came up with the idea of turning the BPE marquee into a Vintage Tea Stop.  Whilst the adults enjoyed a sit down in the shade with a free cuppa a piece of Victoria Sponge, the children were entertained by a magic show, balloon modelling and face painting.  Everyone was happy!

My role:  concept, research and booking Vintage Tea supplier, copywriting and design of invitations and banners.

Self Build Event at Downing Street

Event Co-ordination & PR

Ted Stevens, who at the time was Chairman of the National Self Build Association, asked me to help him launch the Self Build Association’s new website at an event in Downing Street.  It was decided the event would take the form of a Self Build Masterclass and ‘self builders’ were invited to meet up with the likes of George Clarke, Kevin McCloud, Charlie Luxton, Tom Dyckhoff and Dan Cruickshank to discuss their self build projects once the website had been unveiled.

Raising awareness and funds for The Wiggly Worm Charity

“Rob, I’ve got a great idea for a fundraiser – how about an outdoor cinema night!”

The venue  for our first outdoor cinema event was perfect.  The Tuckwell Theatre is a beautiful location.  Organising the license to show the film took a while, but once that was arranged we marched on with promotion and selling tickets. Within 3 weeks we’d sold out!  Thousands of people were made aware of The Wiggly Worm during the promotion of this event through use of social media and editorial in the press and 300 lucky ticket holders joined us in a fabulous evening of Tom Cruise and a trip down memory lane.
